The quiet beach near the Blue Lagoon compound, with Hua Hin in the distance

Getting around Hua Hin.

Sunvillas is 15 minutes from Hua Hin town and 2.5 hours from Bangkok. You don't need a car — but you might want one. Here are all your options, with real prices.

Where you are

Every distance that matters, measured from your terrace.

Sunvillas sits in the Hua Hin Blue Lagoon resort compound at 1574 Petchkasem Road, Cha-Am — roughly halfway between Cha-Am and Hua Hin. The quieter location is the point: the lagoon is calm and the beach uncrowded. The trade-off is that restaurants and shopping are a short drive, not a stroll.

0 m
The lagoon

1.25 km of swimmable water, starting at the terrace of the ground-floor units.

~8 min walk
The beach

Through the resort grounds — private feeling, quiet, far less busy than Hua Hin public beach. A little more or less depending which building you're in. We're set back from the sea, not on it; that's the trade for the calm.

10 min drive
Cha-Am

The nearer town — local markets, seafood restaurants along the beach road.

15 min drive
Central Hua Hin

Night markets, Bluport mall, the railway station, most of the restaurants you've read about.

25 min drive
Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin

On the far side of Hua Hin — international-standard, English-speaking, used to overseas patients.

2 h 30 min
Bangkok

By car or van on the motorway, from Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK) airports.

Bangkok ↔ Sunvillas

Getting here from the airport.

Most guests book their own transfer these days — Grab and Bolt work from both Bangkok airports, and pre-booked private transfers are easy to arrange online and cost-competitive. The drive is about 2.5 hours on the motorway.

Tell your driver: "Sheraton Hua Hin Blue Lagoon, 1574 Petchkasem Road, Cha-Am." Every driver knows the Sheraton — you'll come through the same gated entrance. If you'd like a recommendation for a reliable transfer operator, just ask us when you book.
Into Hua Hin town

Getting into town, from THB 50.

Prefer your phone? Grab and Bolt cover the area — order a car straight to town, or back to us, the same way you would at home. Handy in the evenings when the shuttle has stopped for the day.

Sheraton taxi

Up to 4 passengers, arranged through the Sheraton front desk. The easiest option — drops you anywhere in Hua Hin town.

THB 300 per trip
Best for: couples, small families, quick trips into town

Sheraton minibus

Up to 10 passengers, same booking process. Use it for larger groups, luggage, or a shopping run.

THB 500 per trip
Best for: groups, shopping runs, beach club outings

Public shuttle bus

From the main entrance of the compound, roughly every 30 minutes in the daytime. Wave it down — informal but reliable. Drops you on Petchkasem Road in Hua Hin.

< THB 50 per person
Best for: budget travel, solo exploration, feeling local

Return taxi from Hua Hin

Pick up at the taxi rank opposite the Hilton Hua Hin. Cheaper than the outbound trip — agree the price before you get in.

THB 200–300
Best for: the return journey when you're already in town
Car hire

If you want full freedom.

For stays longer than a week, a small car is worth considering — around THB 1,200/day for an economy model, or THB 18,000–25,000 for a full month. Day trips around Hua Hin (Pranburi, Monsoon Valley, Kaeng Krachan, the Phetchaburi caves) are much easier with your own wheels, and parking at the residence is free.
