Who is responsible

What we collect, and why

• You send an enquiry. Your name, email and message, so we can answer you and, if you book, arrange your stay. Basis: steps taken at your request before a contract.
• You ask for a direct-booking code while staying with us. Your email address, which apartment you were in, and the date, so we can send your code and occasional news about staying here. Basis: your consent, given by ticking the box.
• You stay with us. Booking and billing details, and the identification Thai law requires us to record. Basis: performance of a contract, and legal obligation.

We do not buy lists, and we collect nothing about you from anywhere else.

Asking for a code is optional

The Wi-Fi in your apartment works whether or not you give us your email, and nothing about your stay changes if you would rather not. You are never required to consent in order to get a service.

Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies and runs no advertising or analytics scripts. There is nothing here for you to accept or refuse.

Who else sees it

Three providers handle data on our behalf, under contract, and may use it only for the work we give them: Netlify, Inc. (hosts this site and stores form submissions, in the United States), Resend (sends the email carrying your booking code, in the United States and European Union), and Google LLC (our inbox, where your message arrives).

So your email address is stored and processed outside Thailand, in countries whose data protection laws are not identical to Thailand's. You are told this before you consent. We share your details with nobody else. Never sold, never rented, never passed to another business.

How long we keep it

• Booking-code emails: 24 months from the day you gave it, or until you unsubscribe, whichever comes first. Then deleted, not merely marked inactive.
• Enquiries that did not become a booking: 12 months.
• Stay records: as long as Thai tax and record-keeping rules require.

Your rights

Under the Act you may ask us to tell you what we hold and give you a copy; correct anything wrong; delete it or stop using it; object to a particular use, or hand your data to someone else in a usable file; and withdraw your consent as easily as you gave it. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and one word by email is enough.

Write to sunvillas.bookings@googlemail.com. We answer within 30 days, usually the same week. Withdrawing consent does not undo anything we did lawfully beforehand. If we get it wrong, you may complain to the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee in Bangkok.

Keeping it safe

The site runs over an encrypted connection, and access is limited to the people who need it to do their job. If personal data is ever exposed we notify the Committee within 72 hours as the law requires, and tell you directly if it is likely to affect you.
